Acronyms are often used by public and private agencies as timesaving, shorthand  ways to communicate lengthy titles or basic concepts.  These glossaries provide a quick reference to the terms, acronyms and abbreviations commonly used by the Departments of Health and Family Services (DHFS) and Workforce Development (DWD) as well as the Racine County Human Services Department (HSD) since all services are delivered under the auspices of one or the other State departments.
